The No. 2 ranked St. Thomas women’s basketball team will host unranked Marymount (Va.) this Friday for a spot in the Elite Eight.

The undefeated Tommies defeated Wisconsin-Superior and the University of Chicago to pass through the first two rounds of the tournament. Saturday’s 73-69 victory over the unranked Maroons of Chicago included 17 lead changes and a 53-53 tie in the fourth quarter, before the victory propelled the Tommies to their 29th win of the season.

The winner of Friday’s matchup will face the winner of No. 16 Whitman (Wash.) and No. 7-ranked Trinity (Texas) for a place in the Final Four, which will compete in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the following week.
