The eerie Cretin Hall basement opened its doors Wednesday night for the 10th annual “Haunted Cretin” event.

Featuring five separate rooms of terror, students enjoyed haunted tours from Cretin and Grace resident advisers. This year’s event also featured bingo, a candy buffet, a fortune teller and two door prizes.

In past years, the event has attracted up to 500 students, but Jacob Reilly, South Campus hall council president, said he believed Wednesday’s gloomy weather would keep some students away.

“Because we’re on South Campus, we’re a little bit out of the way,” Reilly said. “Since the weather is bad, people from North may not come.”

Reilly expected anywhere from 100 to 200 students to tour the haunted halls of Cretin’s basement.

According to Reilly, the rumor is that ghosts walk the basement’s halls at night, and past and present students have heard strange noises.
