In the upcoming Nov. 2 election, residents of the City of Minneapolis will vote on a city question that will determine whether or not the police department will be replaced with a new department of public safety.
Health promotion added to violence prevention role in Center for Well-Being restructure
The Center for Well-Being restructured positions to add the responsibility of peer education and health promotion to the pre-existing violence prevention program manager role. This position also has an explicit focus on LGBTQ+ health, making it the first position with a focus on the LGBTQ+ community in the Center for Well-Being.
COVID-19 UPDATE: 29 positive cases marks semester high
Twenty-nine positive COVID-19 cases were reported to the Center for Well-Being during the week of October 15, which is the highest number of positive cases so far this semester.

As COVID-19 restrictions relax, University officials evaluate infection rates
Though St. Thomas requires that all community members get the COVID-19 vaccine, some have opted out of the mandate for medical, religious or conscientious reasons. Even with a 88% vaccination rate as of September 29, the University Action and Response team, a group of community leaders advising St. Thomas officials on pandemic prevention protocol, is monitoring COVID-19 infections and is prepared to tighten on-campus restrictions if needed.

St. Thomas will continue to require face coverings and social distancing protocols despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated guidance and Gov. Tim Walz lifting Minnesota’s statewide mask mandate, according to an email from the University Action and Response Team Friday morning.
