Titanic expedition shows off some crisp new images

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland — An expedition surveying the wreck of the Titanic is showing off some crisp images of the world’s most famous shipwreck, but officials said Sunday they are headed back to shore. Officials from Expedition Titanic said in a statement they are now headed back to Newfoundland because high seas and winds brought on by hurricane Danielle are preventing researchers from carrying out their work.

On August 15 at 3:11 a.m., Public Safety and the Minneapolis Police Department responded to an assault outside of Minneapolis School of Law. Two disorderly non-UST affiliated individuals, who assaulted an officer, were arrested by MPD.

On August 8 at 12:25 p.m., Public Safety reported vehicle damage on the 2000 block of Marshall Avenue. A UST neighbor reported several windows of their parked vehicle were smashed.

On July 28 at 3:24 p.m., Public Safety reported a vehicle accident in LOT X. A UST employee reported they backed their vehicle into a sign, causing minor damage to the sign and their vehicle.

Minn. teen makes a business out of mowing patterns

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — If the Minnesota Twins need some love this summer, all the team has to do is see Jim Noyes’ backyard.

Noyes hires Schultz Lawn Care to mow his St. Augusta lawn. The company’s owner and operator, Nick Schultz, worked 12 hours to cut a 75-by-75-foot Twins logo into the lawn.

Kardelen Calikiran was playing volleyball outside JPII Hall with other children and teens from the Songs of Hope music camp when they stopped to watch a bride, dazzling in white, walk out of the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas.

“I love watching the weddings,” Calikiran said. “But I hope the brides don’t get annoyed with us for playing volleyball in the grass right by the church.”

On July 24 at 11:37 p.m., Public Safety responded to a policy violation in Flynn Residence Hall. Three underage UST students were found to have removed a smoke detector in FRH in order to use cigarettes, and were consuming alcohol too.

On July 18 at 7:22 p.m., Public Safety and St. Paul Police Department responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Cleveland Avenue. Two non-UST affiliated individuals’ vehicles struck each other, rendering both vehicles inoperable, but no injuries were reported.

On July 13 at 12:44 p.m., Public Safety reported a burglary in John Roach Center. A UST employee reported the glass pane of their secured office door was forcibly removed, and several books were stolen from the office.

Minn. zoo offers unlikely objects for its animals

DULUTH, Minn. — Dave Thompson can use some of the most unlikely objects — a discarded mirror, an empty Mountain Dew bottle, an odd-shaped piece of PVC tubing — in his work.

“When I go to Menards, it’s a lot different from normal people,” Thompson said.
