COVID-19 UPDATE: St. Thomas positive cases skyrocket to 80; university enters “quiet period”
Eighty positive COVID-19 cases were reported last week by the University of St. Thomas’ Center for Well-Being Monday, the highest total recorded all year and a 58-case increase from the previous week. Two positive cases came from employees and 78 came from students; two of the 80 cases were from the Minneapolis campus.
25 to 75, for some: campus departments now allowed to host meetings with more attendees
Some university departments that sponsor student meetings or activities may now host in-person student events and activities with more than 25 attendees starting on Oct. 12, Student Affairs said in an email Thursday.
St. Thomas asking students to quarantine before returning, causing mixed reactions
The University of St. Thomas is advising that students returning to campus this fall “should practice a quarantine for two weeks,” the university’s Student Affairs department wrote in an email Wednesday.

St. Thomas is requiring all undergraduate students living, working or attending classes on campus to electronically sign the “Common Good Commitment,” before returning for fall 2020, according to an email sent by university President Julie Sullivan Tuesday evening.
