With the Minnesota Twins’ home opener less than a month away, many students are excited for the new season and especially Target Field.
“The outside aspect, it’s new. It’s fresh,” senior Tom Schneider said. “And Joe Mauer will be here for another year.”
The Twins’ Web site says the open-air ballpark cost nearly $412 million to build and will seat almost 40,000 people.
Located across the street from the Target Center, the new stadium features a video display nine times bigger than the old Metrodome display and an out-of-town scoreboard more than 100 feet wide.
The unpredictable Minnesota weather has many students concerned about the new outdoor ballpark.
“I’ve talked to several people, and they’re worried about April games and it being too cold for some of those, but I’m all for it,” senior Michael Rasley said.
The Twins will play their first regular season game at Target Field on April 12.
