Tommie Spotlight: Nick Rapisarda

Junior forward Nick Rapisarda is having an impressive season.

Rapisarda believes his teammates create numerous chances for him to score.

“Us playing better as a team, players just being less selfish moving the ball more, has lead me to more opportunities than I usually get,” Rapisarda said.

With 11 goals and two assists this season, Rapisarda said each goal is unique.

First-year coach Jon Lowery believes Rapisarda brings many valuable traits to the team.

“His best attribute is his selflessness,” Lowery said. “He’s not concerned with how the ball gets in the back of the net as long as we put it back of the net.”

Junior forward Alex Bernhardt says Rapisarda’s leadership qualities transcend the lines of the soccer field.

“As a leader, he’s great,” Bernhardt said. “Off the field, he helps out some of the guys studying.”

With the St. Thomas soccer team seeking its first conference title since 1995, Lowery knows Rapisarda will play an essential part in helping St. Thomas secure an NCAA playoff berth.

“He’s a special talent,” Lowery said. “His team first mentality is what we really, really appreciate.”
