Dear TommieMedia readers,

On March 30, TommieMedia posted a news story on its website about diversity on campus. This article was an attempt to cover a number of diversity-related topics and bring them together into one piece.

After it was published, some students expressed concern about the story through emails, comments and in person. After meeting with two students and the director of campus life, TommieMedia executives revised the story and deleted the comments, which addressed the earlier edition of the piece.

In response to the concerns of students and St. Thomas administrators, TommieMedia wants to emphasize our commitment to accurate and ongoing coverage of diversity on campus, including issues faced by students of color, students with disabilities, LGBT students and anyone else who is underrepresented on campus.

TommieMedia is not just a student news organization; we hope to function as a forum where all students can express their opinions and share their experiences through guest columns, letters to the editor and comments on stories.

We look forward to working with the St. Thomas community to provide this space and coverage.
