WHITEWATER, Wis. — After winning three consecutive elimination games, the St. Thomas baseball team fell to UW-Lacrosse 8-3 in the NCAA Division III regional tournament to end its 2017 season.
The Eagles (31-18) scored five runs in the top of the second, bringing their lead to 6-1. The Tommies (29-18) left 12 runners stranded on base throughout the game, and were not able to catch back up to the Eagles.
Pitcher Grant Gunderson relieved for the Tommies and allowed only two runs in his six-inning appearance.
St. Thomas finished third in the regional tournament, and tied for 17th place in the Director’s Cup national all-sport scoring.
