Running back Tucker Trettel ran for 120 yards and a touchdown to help St. Thomas cruise to a 57-0 lead over Hamline at halftime Saturday at Klas Field.
Trettel led a ground attack that gained 253 yards and scored four touchdowns over the first two quarters of the game. Quarterback Jacques Perra completed 68 percent of his passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.
The defense and special teams units also scored for the first time this season. Safety Isaac Seering returned a first-quarter interception 25 yards to the end zone, and punt returner Tom Loeffler returned a second-quarter punt 75 yards to the house.
Hamline was able to muster only 2 rushing yards in the first half. Pipers quarterback Justice Spriggs completed 44 percent of his passes with no touchdowns.
This is the third time this season the Tommies have carried a shutout into halftime. In Week 3, the Tommies led the Carleton Knights 42-0 by halftime, and in Week 6 they led the Concordia Cobbers 14-0. Both games ended as shutouts.
