The Undergraduate Student Government approved its 2010 spring budget of $230,830 Sunday.

Brady Narloch, USG vice president of financial affairs, said the budget “hasn’t changed a lot since last semester” and the chief difference lies in funding for the senior riverboat cruise.

USG’s internal expenses totaled $38,330 and will go toward legacy items (such as Tommie Taxi, the readership program and Party in the Library), the USG retreat, special events contingency and executive board expenses.

External expenses made up just $25,600 of the total budget, with about of $10,000 going to Fanamaniac and $15,000 to the lectures committee.

Other expenses included funding for standing committees ($4,900), class councils ($42,000) and club-related expenses ($120,000).

With a revenue total of $243,000, the USG finance committee estimates a $12,170 budget rollover from fall semester.

Students for Liberty and Triathlon Club approved

Students for Liberty and the Triathlon Club both received unanimous USG approval and are now official St. Thomas clubs.

Students for Liberty is a non-partisan club hoping to hold open debate and discussion on politically charged current events.

The Triathlon Club hopes to create a community for St. Thomas triathlon enthusiasts and help subsidize triathlon entry fees for students.
