The Undergraduate Student Government approved two new organizations and allocated $5,085 to St. Thomas clubs and organizations through budget requests at its meeting Sunday, April 18.

Invisible Children and Christian Leaders received unanimous USG approval and are now official St. Thomas organizations.

Invisible Children aims to raise awareness and hold fundraisers to aid victims of the civil war in Uganda. Christian Leaders’ purpose is to unify the various Christian organizations at St. Thomas by bringing together representatives from all of the Christian clubs and organizations on campus.

Five clubs and organizations will receive USG funding through the approval of conference and competition requests.

Endow ($270), Student Anti-Genocide Coalition ($1,600), Council for Middle Eastern Studies ($707.50), Fishing club ($575) and the Catholic Discovery groups ($1,000) all received approval for USG funding.

Active Minds, a mental health awareness group, received a $933 special budget request to host a stress-relieving event for St. Thomas students during finals week. The event will feature various activities such as a raffle and a Wellness Center “stress table” to help students cope with stress during finals and to raise money for AnxietyInTeens.com.
