Jessica Root, sophomore
Current position: Residential Senator
Why she is running: “I am running for the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs because I want to make a difference on campus. I will listen to what students want to see on campus and put [that] into effect. I am not afraid to stand up for an idea and to put time into something that will benefit the university. I have had the pleasure of being on USG for the past two years and have loved every minute of it, and I would really enjoy having another opportunity to lead my peers as a member of the Undergraduate Student Government.”
What she would do if elected: “If I were elected as Vice President of Academic Affairs on USG, I will work toward trying to make every student and faculty member who attends the University of St. Thomas have a positive and fun experience on campus. I believe it is important for students to be informed on the current issues and options concerning [the] academic curriculum. Also, I will strive to accomplish goals set by the Undergraduate Student Government and bring new ideas to the table. Finally, I will try my best to represent the entire student body when it comes to academic matters.”
