At 9 a.m. Saturday morning, groups of four decked out in Tommie gear and other creative apparel gathered in front of the arches for the Wellness Center’s 5K run/walk to kick off the beginning of homecoming.
Students, alumni and members of the community were all welcome to join. People dressed up as penguins, one person wore a pair of American flag shorts, others wore feather boas and face paint, and of course, purple was the most popular color at the event.
Each team member ran or walked or leap-frogged about .8 miles and took turns running down Summit Avenue to Howell Avenue where the turning point was. Some teams were confused about where the turning point was and ended up running twice the distance.
