MINNEAPOLIS — A St. Paul woman says she was celebrating her pregnancy by mixing wine with a painkiller when she sped through downtown Minneapolis and struck and killed a college student.
Teisha Randle has pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide in the October death of Austin Conley, a 20-year-old Augsburg College student. Some of Conley’s family members cried as they sat in the courtroom gallery Monday when Hennepin County District Judge Daniel Moreno accepted Randle’s plea.
A prosecutor told the judge he would ask for a four-year sentence. Sentencing is scheduled April 22.
Defense attorney Carolina Lamas tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Randle ended her pregnancy after she was criminally charged.
