The men’s and women’s soccer teams split the Saturday afternoon ticket at Bethel. The women posted a 2-1 win while the men lost 2-1.
The women fell behind 1-0, but two unanswered goals in five minutes were enough to give the Tommies the victory and run its win streak to five games. Junior Lexie Fisher tied the game with a goal assisted by senior Erin Sprangers and St. Thomas got the eventual game-winner from freshman Anna Strehlow, the first of her college career.
As for the Tommie men, St. Thomas took a 1-0 lead late into the game thanks to a goal by senior Tommy Jungwirth. But two goals in the final 13 minutes gave Bethel the win. The Royals scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute, dropping St. Thomas to 4-4-1 on the year.
The Tommie women play St. Ben’s at home Wednesday and the St. Thomas men host Buena Vista Tuesday.
