The St. Thomas women’s basketball team beat St. Olaf College 61-52 Wednesday night.
Coach Ruth Sinn said she was happy with the team’s performance.
“It was a great defensive effort,” Sinn said. “I think we kind of really made a statement. 17 points in the first half, 20 percent shooting. I like our defensive intensity.”
Freshman Maggie Weiers scored 16 points and had eight rebounds. Junior Carolyn Dienhart scored 13 points and had five rebounds.
“It was good,” said freshman Taylor Young, who scored eight points in Wednesday’s game. “We came out strong and that’s what our goal was, and we plowed through and got the win.”
The Tommies play Concordia-Moorhead Dec. 11 at home.
