Goals by junior Lexie Fisher and sophomore Ale Wicka led the women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over St. Olaf Saturday on South Campus.
The win, St. Thomas’ eighth in a row, moves the Tommies into a share of the conference lead with Concordia-Moorhead. The Tommies are now 10-2 on the season and 6-0 in the MIAC. St. Thomas’ conference winning streak stretches back to last season and now stands at 18 games.
The game kicked off in snowy weather conditions with the temperature below 30 degrees. A scoreless tie carried into the second half but was broken by Fisher’s goal 64 minutes into the game. Less than three minutes later, Wicka tacked on the second goal and St. Olaf was unable to come back to tie the game up. Sophomore goalkeeper Allie Byron had two saves while clocking all 90 minutes for the Tommies in net.
St. Thomas plays next at home when the Tommies take on Carleton at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
