Interesting choices but the title probably should have read RECENT World History. Some of these decisions pale in comparison with some really major mistakes on the world stage, like the Japanese decision to bomb Pearl Harbor in December of 1941 to cite just one example. – Scott Wright, Prof. Emeritus of History, UST
If Steve Jobs ended up making the company what it is today, wasn’t it then a good thing he was fired in the first place? We don’t know if he would have made the same decisions had he not been fired.
And was the Titanic crashing into an iceberg really a “decision”?
Apparently all the worst decisions have been made in the last 102 years. This must mean that humanity is getting dumber by the year.
Progress is NOT our most important product!
Perhaps add the word “corporate” to the heading? Not sure that helps…The Beatles record deals? Seriously, did you take any history classes?
If you look on Chipotle’s website it has this listed under its “facts” page: “There is a popular misconception that Chipotle restaurants are owned by McDonalds. While they were once an investor in our company, they divested in 2006 and our company went public on the New York Stock Exchange that year.”
McDonalds was an investor; they did not own Chipotle.
It doesn’t say “Top”, so these could be “10 of the Worst [100000000] Decisions in History”. I would argue that they are probably closer to the top than bottom. Most decisions are wholly inconsequential. That said, limiting them to financial would have made more sense.
